Jim's presentation will cover extending ceramic methods, particularly hand-building and surface treatments,
through an exploration of the making process itself.
Formal shapes, surface textures, engobe applications through stencils, patterns and painting
are tried and treated to modifications prior to construction of each ceramic piece.
Robison often reworks the slabs through a process of re-rolling, stretching and adding profiles of extruded clay.
With an enjoyable mixture of spontaneity and careful control; a wide ranging body of work will be demonstrated
and encouraged in the following workshop. These will include wall pieces, bowls, landscape inspired vases
and sculptures, along with insights into the creation of his larger murals and outdoor sculptures.
